Qubits

Qubit A
|ψ⟩ = α|0⟩ + β|1⟩
Qubit B
|ψ⟩ = α|0⟩ + β|1⟩

Sliders set each qubit's starting state (θ, φ on the Bloch sphere). Gates are then applied left to right.

    What is a qubit?

A classical bit is 0 or 1. A qubit's state is a combination α|0⟩ + β|1⟩, where α and β are complex numbers with |α|² + |β|² = 1. When you measure it you get 0 with probability |α|² or 1 with probability |β|². Any single-qubit state can be drawn as a point on the Bloch sphere using two angles, θ and φ.

    Superposition

A qubit in superposition has non-zero amplitude for both |0⟩ and |1⟩. It is not secretly one value; the amplitudes can interfere, which is what quantum algorithms exploit. The Hadamard gate turns |0⟩ into (|0⟩ + |1⟩)/√2, giving a 50/50 measurement outcome. Measuring collapses the state to the observed result.

    Entanglement

Two qubits are entangled when their joint state can't be written as separate single-qubit states. Applying H to qubit A and then CNOT gives the Bell state (|00⟩ + |11⟩)/√2: each result alone is random, but the two always match. This correlation can't be used to send messages faster than light.
